mini-mum

As Mother's Day looms, we've been thinking about things to make for mums. Which is not to say that chocolates and flowers aren't always appreciated too...

Minna used our Dress Up Doll to make this very finely observed mini version of her own mum. Leopard print: check. Orange lippy: check. Freckles: check. Silver streaks in hair: check.

It's always interesting to get a glimpse of how your kids see you. And how lovely would one of these look stuck to the front of a card or even put in a picture frame? It certainly made this mother very happy.

Show your mum how you see her – we guarantee she'll love it, silver streaks and all.

Get organised

It feels like every available surface in our house is still covered in clutter that built up over half term and when we're not unearthing Sylvanian Families figures from behind the sofa cushions we're trying to remember where we last saw the scissors.

Thank heavens then for trusty Ikea and its helpful Moppe mini-drawers. Not only can they be painted or stained according to your whim but you can also customise them with our Alphabet, labelling individual drawers to remind you what you've put where.

No shortage of STUFF in our house.

ecopapershapes everywhere

We're finding that ecopapershapes are slowly insinuating themselves into our lives and randomly taking up residence in nooks and crannies all over the house.

This coffee pot gift tag should be adorning one of our packs, all ready for you to buy, instead of perching on a picture frame... Time for a spring clean?

name necklaces

More self-adornment. We made these bling-tastic name necklaces by spattering our Alphabet with paint and taping the letters to some string.

Best worn with a pout.

knuckleduster

After our jewellery-making session, we had a go at something a little more edgy - and rustled up these fashion-forward knuckleduster rings in a trice using our Papercharms.

We selected the moustache and cloud shapes (on the basis that these are officially the coolest shapes right now) and painted them gold...

... then taped an elastic band to the back of each.

So not wrong. The elastic band fitted around two fingers on my hand...

And three on Minna's.

Our next challenge? Making LOVE and HATE knuckledusters with our Alphabet, channeling Robert Mitchum in Night of the Hunter. Or maybe just one that spells out MUM...

diy deely bopper

Fancy a diy deely bopper? They're super-simple to make; all you need is a couple of Papercharms, a pipecleaner or soft wire and a plain hairband.

First choose a couple of shapes and decorate them (we used two of the same shape but different ones would look great too). Then snip the pipecleaner or wire in half and tape a length to the back of each shape.

Wind the ends of the pipecleaner around the hairband...

... and that's it!

Then wear with attitude.
